Information we collect

We collect information needed to provide and improve Scholar Go, including:

• Account information: your email address, account identifier, sign-in provider, and account-verification status. Authentication is provided through Firebase Authentication.
• Research content: research topics, selected references, saved libraries, generated drafts and reviews, citation preferences, and related content you choose to save in the app.
• Usage and diagnostics: app interactions, performance information, crash reports, and device or app identifiers used for analytics, security, and troubleshooting.
• Purchase information: subscription status and product information supplied by Google Play. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
• Deletion requests: the email address you submit through our account deletion form and the request status and submission time.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, provide research search and AI-assisted writing features, save your selected content, manage subscriptions, respond to support and deletion requests, improve the app, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Research and AI services

Scholar Go sends the research topics, draft text, and reference details needed to provide AI writing features to our backend and AI service providers. The app may also send your research query to Semantic Scholar to retrieve relevant scholarly references. Please do not include confidential, sensitive, or personal information in research prompts unless it is necessary for your own work.

Analytics, advertising, and consent

The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage and diagnose technical problems. It also uses Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform to request and record advertising-consent choices where required. Your available choices may depend on your location. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies on this website.

How information is shared

We use trusted providers to operate Scholar Go, including Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, storage, analytics, crash reporting, consent, and certain app infrastructure; Google Play for purchases; OpenAI for AI generation; and Semantic Scholar for research search. These providers process information as needed to deliver their services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect people, our rights, or the security of Scholar Go.

We do not sell personal information.

Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Scholar Go, resolve requests and disputes, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You may be able to access, correct, export, object to certain processing of, or request deletion of your personal information, depending on applicable law. You can submit an account-deletion request through our account deletion page. You can manage app advertising choices through the in-app privacy options when they are available.

International processing

Our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. When this happens, we take steps intended to ensure the transfer is handled in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Scholar Go changes or legal requirements evolve. We will post the current version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
